Go-Stop (맞고)
The most popular Hwatu game in Korea.
2–4 players collect cards to form scoring sets (like 광, 열끗, 띠, 피).
Players can call “Go” to continue for more points or “Stop” to end the round.
Seotda (섯다)
Uses only 20 cards (January–October, 2 per month).
Players get 2 cards each and compare combinations (족보), like “38 광땡” or “알리.”
Similar to poker in tension, but with its own unique hands.
Dori-jitgo-ttaeng (도리짓고땡)
Like Seotda but with 3 cards.
Has special combinations such as “구사” (9–4 combo).
Min-Hwatu (민화투)
A simplified version, often for kids and families.
Players collect cards by month or type (like ribbons or animals).
Card Matching Games – e.g., memory/matching by month.
Poker Variants – Some people adapt Hwatu to play poker-style games.
Fortune Telling / Fun Divination – Drawing cards to “read” luck.
Collecting – Hwatu designs are often beautiful (cranes, cherry blossoms, moons, etc.).
Art & Decoration – Some use the cards in crafts, collages, or framed displays.
