From the auction page:
A collection of 63 photographs, of various sizes, that were supplied to the Lucasfilm art department as reference photos for creating artwork in relation to Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (20th Century Fox, 1983).
The photographs are comprised primarily of 8 x 10 promotional photos for the film, as well as some from the first two films in the original trilogy, and photos of ship miniatures from ILM. Many of the photographs contain markings done by the art department to indicate suggested directional strokes for artists to emulate when recreating position and motion in works of art. These markings are done either with marker lines, or by scratch marks directly into the photos themselves. Other photographs include handwritten notes, either on the photos directly or on sticky notes, to point out design elements to recreate such as blasters and lightsabers. "Lucasfilm LTD. 1982" stamps present on the verso of many of the photographs.
