The TRAXX AC1 is an electric locomotive series developed primarily for freight transport. The name Traxx stands for "Transnational Railway Applications with Extreme Flexibility". The 185.1 series, directly derived from the 145 series, now with a changed design and series designation, could now be used for both AC voltage systems 15 kV/16 2/3 Hz and 25 kV/50 Hz that are common in Europe. With a weight of 84 t, it does a continuous power of 5.6 MW and is approved for 140 km/h.
