The 1995 Gloom topSun card says 1997 at the top of the slab and 1995 at the bottom. This is because of top seika a Japanese candy company in conjunction with Nintendo and game freak having produced these cards before the Pokemon trading card game ever hit the shelves.
These cards were produced in Japan and released in wax packs with a piece of apple flavored bubble gum for the red and green Pokemon gameboy game in Japan. The art you see here on these topSun cards is the first ever original watercolor release of these pokemon ever printed on cards.
In the end Nintendo wanted the trading card game recognized as the first ever release of the art to keep the value of the first edition cards where it was. of course all true collectors know these are more first edition than any first edition trading card game cards could be. These came first.
