Upgrade to the LiFePO4 Lithium Battery That Finally Delivers on Its Promise

Designed in Australia for Riders Who Demand Better

The LiFePO4 Revolution (2010s)

Early lithium-ion motorcycle batteries in the 2000s struggled with reliability. The arrival of lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) technology brought essential safety and significant performance upgrades:

  • Safety-first design: Non-flammable and inherently stable chemistry
  • Exceptional starting power: Delivers up to 3x the cranking amps of AGM/Gel batteries with the same capacity (Ah rating)
  • All-weather performance: Operates reliably from -20°C to 60°C
  • Long-term value: 2000+ cycles (up to 5x AGM/Gel battery lifespan)

Why Many Lithium Batteries Still Fail Riders

Common issues arise from generic manufacturing practices:

✘ Inferior cells and BMS: Leading to failures that unfairly undermine lithium technology’s reputation.

✘ Undersized capacity: Sacrificing durability and real-world runtime for misleading "ultra-lightweight" claims.

Our Engineering Response

Optimized Battery Capacity for Real-World Riding

Thanks to LiFePO4’s high energy density, a 12V 2Ah lithium battery (e.g., SSB UltraLight ) can deliver cranking power comparable to a 12V 6Ah AGM battery (e.g., Yuasa YTZ7S).

However, we build our LiFePO4 batteries with at least 3Ah capacity (e.g., LFP4L), because ample capacity is essential for:

  • Stronger, more reliable starts
  • Extended runtime for electrical accessories
  • Longer lifespan—resisting slow degradation over time

Need More Power? Our Ultra and Ultimate editions outperform all AGM and lithium competitors.

Engineered for riders who demand top-tier performance, including:

  • Enhanced cranking for big twins (Harley-Davidson, Indian, etc.)
  • Consistent high output for adventure bikes with auxiliary loads
  • Heavy-duty performance in extreme riding conditions

The Next Generation Starts Now

Our LiFePO4 batteries represent years of innovation. Newly launched but built on proven technology, they deliver next-gen reliable performance. We continuously refine our products using rider feedback because we believe riders deserve batteries that work as hard as they do.

To Whom It May Concern:

The lithium battery landscape for motorcycles and powersports remains fragmented, with varying standards of quality. Selecting a truly premium battery demands prioritizing high-performance cells from specialist manufacturers for real-world reliability. Unfortunately, some assemblers may use inferior cells and generic BMS units, leading to failures that unfairly undermine lithium technology's reputation.

Compounding this, pervasive marketing myths proliferate online, sometimes promoted by established brands. As a smaller industry participant, we offer these insights:

1. The Reality of Prismatic and Pouch Cells

Myth: "Prismatic cells provide superior cranking performance and a 10-year lifespan in motorcycle batteries."

Reality: While true large-format prismatic cells excel in energy storage batteries, the compact pouch cells commonly marketed as "prismatic" for motorcycle batteries are a different product. Although they offer lightweight power and very high cranking amps, they suffer from critical flaws in this application:

  • Fair vibration resistance and swelling effects : The constant vibration in a motorcycle environment accelerates degradation and causes capacity loss for prismatic pouch cells.
  • → Optimized for extreme weight sensitivity and short power bursts.Best applications: Drones, RC cars, MotoGP race bikes only.

2. Reject the CCA Numbers Game

Labeling Batteries with Inflated CCA Ratings Is Fraudulent.

To illustrate, our Prime line LFP5L-BS battery can be made to display approximately 260 CCA on professional testers with minimal effort. In the interest of honesty and transparency, we label it at its true rating of 170 CCA.

An accurate CCA value must be derived strictly from the cell manufacturer's specifications—not estimated by the battery assembler or seller. It must also account for critical real-world factors that diminish performance:

  • LiFePO4 chemistry inherently loses 20% or more of its cranking ability in extreme cold.
  • The manufacturing process (including cell connections and BMS integration) introduces resistance, typically reducing actual CCA by ~10% compared to ideal lab data from individual cells.

3. The Critical Factor: Why Capacity (Ah) is King

In lithium motorcycle batteries, a substantial Amp-hour (Ah) rating is the most critical factor for performance. This larger capacity is what enables both stronger cranking power and a longer overall service life.

We strongly advise against choosing batteries that focus primarily on inflated CCA claims or extreme lightweight designs, as these are often achieved by using an undersized—and ultimately inadequate—capacity.

Authentic, reliable performance is not about a single exaggerated number. It is the result of a balanced design: high-quality cells, sufficient capacity, and honest specifications that reflect real-world operating conditions.

Battery Features

Q: What do "CCA" and "Ah" mean?

  • Ah (Amp-hour): Measures energy storage capacity. Example: A 10Ah battery delivers 1 amp for 10 hours or 10 amps for 1 hour.
  • CCA (Cold Cranking Amps): Rates starting power at 0°F/-18°C. Higher CCA = stronger ignition, critical for cold starts or large engines.

Key Insight: High-performance LiFePO₄ delivers more CCA per Ah than AGM. Example: A 2Ah LiFePO₄ matches the cranking power of a 5Ah AGM battery.

Q: What is "Depth of Discharge" (DOD), and why does it matter?

  • DOD = % of energy safely used before recharging.
  • Higher DOD = more usable power.
  • Example 1: A 10Ah battery at 50% DOD = only 5Ah usable before damage.

Example 2: A 7Ah LiFePO₄ (5.6Ah usable) outperforms a 10Ah AGM (5Ah usable) while being 50% lighter.

Q: How often should I charge my LiFePO₄ motorcycle battery?

While riding, a healthy motorcycle charging system (outputting ~14V at 2,000 RPM) effortlessly maintains LiFePO₄ batteries (designed for 13.2–14.8V input). Translation: No spare charger required for regular riders.

Even if you're taking your bike out of service for the winter break, simply disconnect the negative lead from your battery, and thanks to lithium's longevity (low self-discharge rate), it will be good to go when you hook it back up in spring.

Recharge the battery if:

  • Voltage drops to 10.6V or lower
  • Battery storage exceeds 5 months
  • Deep discharge occurs (e.g., lights left on)

Q: How do I safely charge a LiFePO₄ battery? Can I use a lead-acid battery charger?

Use a LiFePO₄-compatible charger (labeled "LFP" or "Lithium Iron Phosphate") recommended for optimal performance and safety.

A basic lead-acid chargers without "boost/repair/desulfation" modes may work as a last resort

While our BMS includes over-voltage protection, it's not a safety net to test. Using incompatible chargers voids warranties and risks failure.
