This vintage Zipp 2001 time trial bike is a custom-built medium frame unisex adult bike with a silver color and a triathlon bar handle. It has a 10-speed Dura Ace drivetrain and mechanical rim brakes. The bike features a carbon fiber frame and tubular tires with a 700c wheel size. The Zipp crank and bar-end shifter style add to the bike's aesthetic and performance.
The bike has been well-maintained and is ready for its next adventure. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or just starting out, this Zipp 2001 is a great choice for time trials and triathlons. Made in the United States, this bike is a true gem for vintage bike enthusiasts.
This is a completed project bike. It is complete 10 speed dura ace and features the rare long cage rear derailleur. The crank chainrings run a 55-42 tooth and the cassette runs 12-25 tooth. The rear d and front d do have minor scrapes.
Brand new KMC super light chain x10sl. Brand new bar tape and cabling for brakes and shifters. Brand new chrome zipp skewers. Brand new aero pads, the pads are slightly oversized for the cups, they do not produce the oem ones anymore so third party pads were sourced.
This build features the incredibly rare ZIPP CA 380 crank set, less than 200 of these were ever made and this one is in great condition, it boasts an arm length of 175. To my research this is the first carbon crank arm ever made. Pedal threads are not stripped. The non drive side does not have a plug for the bolt. Includes look keo easy pedals.
Purchase includes HED 3c tubular tri spoke wheelset. Both have brand new tires and spin true. The rear wheel has a deeper shell than the front. Both wheels have sticker damage to the logos and some glue residue from a magnet due to previous owner. Carbon braking surface with swiss stop carbon pads in use.
Complete chris king headset 1 inch. Fork is a profile design BDC carbon fiber fork.
Xlab turbo rear hydration with duel zipp carbon fiber bottle cages is attached to a Dash Cycles Strike Carbon Fiber Saddle with carbon rails. There is one minor scrape at the left saddle nose.
The seat post bolts connecting to the frame have been cleaned but are a little rusty and can be replace easily.
Brand new internal beam shock dampers have been installed with new oem.
The cockpit boasts a carbon fiber zipp sl145 stem holding the rare HED complete cockpit. The brake levers are built into the bars. The bars are a 1 inch clamp and the stem is 1 1/8 clamp. Shim adapters are used, also to the steerer tube. The aero bars are adjustable left and right and bars can be extended. The bars have been cut shorter. Under the bar tape.
The rear under brake is all original except the brake shoe. Due to space limitations the shoe has been cut to fit the frame shown in photos. This was done after talking to a local bike shop. The reduced brake pad size does not affect the braking power as the primary stopping force is the front. Truth be told the braking power is not up to modern standards. You can brake 100% but ive noticed a difference riding this and my newer bike. The bike shop has no concerns tho about stopping power so I’ll take their word.
The frame has been repainted. The original color was yellow. If you scratch it you will see yellow. Paint job was done with “spray bike Frame Builder's Metal Plating - Pewter Silver”. The decal logos are custom made and have minor imperfections. All of which is sitting under a clear coat. There are impressions from the original paint jobs dings and such shown throughout the photos. Original exposed carbon has been left as such.
Sizing- i am 6 foot 1, this bike is slightly too small for me. Center of BB to saddle rails is about 30 inches. Saddle clamp to center of stem clamp is about 26.5 inches. The head tube is 5.5 inches. Center of BB to center of head tube is 26.5 inches.
There is absolutely no cracks to anything.
