Original German Winterhilfswerk charity figure, c. 1940-43
Why it’s special
Issued by the Winterhilfswerk (WHW)—Germany’s winter-relief fund. Small pins like this were sold for pocket-change, with proceeds used to help families in need during the war.
Expertly hand-painted celluloid figure of a Panzer tank crewman, complete with hat and dagger on the belt.
Size: about 1 13⁄16 ″ (46 mm) tall, lightweight for easy wear on a lapel or dress.
Condition: Good vintage look—tiny paint rubs on hands and hat edge; safety-pin clasp firmly glued and functions smoothly (see close-ups).
Historical note
These figural pins formed part of the “Rund um die Wehrmacht” series produced 1939-43. Each depicted a service branch; the black-uniformed Panzer soldier is among the scarcer pieces.
