This huge family Bible, printed in 1864 in Glasgow, is one of the many popular large devotional Bibles that were popular in the 18th- and 19th-century. This particular edition includes commentary by numerous contributors including Matthew Henry and Thomas Scott, as well as a Biblical dictionary and even scripture reference guide. Bound in dark brown embossed leather with panel tooling. Raised bands and gilt titling appear along the spine, with decorative blind-stamped designs across both boards. Binding is secure, with minor rubbing along edges, hinges, and bands. Internally, the volume is clean and complete, with moderate, age-appropriate toning.
