St Vincents Hospital Dublin Nursing Badge – Egan Cork
An attractive and increasingly scarce Irish nursing badge from St Vincents Hospital, Dublin, manufactured by the well-known Irish maker Egan of Cork.
The badge represents an important piece of Irish nursing and hospital history and would make an excellent addition to a collection of nursing badges, medical memorabilia, hospital collectables or Irish historical items.
The badge is believed to be silver and is consistent in appearance and construction with other period silver nursing badges by Egan of Cork. However, I can find no silver marks and it is therefore being sold as unmarked silver-coloured metal, with buyers invited to form their own opinion.
St Vincents Hospital has long been one of Ireland's most significant teaching hospitals and badges associated with the institution remain sought after by collectors of nursing and medical history.
The reverse is marked EGAN CORK, one of Ireland's best-known makers of badges and insignia.
