Here's a very nice looking
Clegg - 22'er - 2 Meter amateur Radio Transceiver
The 2 meter amateur band is generally FM and this is an AM unit.
I do hear that there are local groups that use these as kind of a unique experimenters group
Definitely has a bit of a cult following - for fun of course.
This is also a really nice cabinet for repurposing
That said - here's what I found.
I received this from an older gentleman that is a ham radio operator - very well versed fellow and very nice guy - he did state that everything "works" but I have no REAL way of testing it.
When I got it - there was a thin wire coming from the jones plug - I assumed it was for 12 volt operation so I connected it toa 12v Power supply -
I did get the tube filaments to glow on 12 volts
I looked on line to see if i could find a wiring diagram to reconnected the jones plug for household 115Volt operation.
I couldn't find the exact book for this issue (there were several versions of this radio) so I used the closest one - it was incorrect - the book i found online was for the Clegg 66'er which is the 6 Meter version. Apparently not the same - although it looks it
There was no magic smoke but also I got no glow - so it's not correct,.
You'll have to do a physical tracing of the jones plug pins to figure it out - I'm not good at that.
So It's being sold complete as I received it so you can have at it.
For that reason - it's being sold for parts or restoration -
It's a very well built unit as was most products back in those days - cosmetically - it's in nice shape too - I'm open to offers. Be nice - be reasonable - communication is a wonderful thing - that said - I do this to supplement my SS so your generosity will be greatly appreciated.
The dial works nice and smoothly with no stretch or lag - all controls are firm - snap well and aren't gummy either. I gave it a nice cleaning. All the knobs are there and still have the chrome caps - kind of an indicator that it was stored well - not in some crappy old shed. That's worth quite a lot too.
pictures are of the actual unit I will ship along with any goodie I can include that mat help yuou along on your project.
It's great case for repurposing. and I'd love to convert it to a Guitar amplifier or something to that effect - I'm just getting to old - lack the detailed knowledge and with my eyesight failing - I just as well let someone else tinker with it.
Thanks for looking - any questions - message me -
I ship the same or next business day using accurately entered shipping parameters - - the shipping quote will be accurate
Also very well packed for a safe ride
Select the shipping option that best works for your area - It can be vastly different form one area and carrier to another - .since i am way other on the East Coast - flat rates just don't work in my case - accuracy will help a lot.
