Comes with 2 x RISC OS ROM Images:

1. RO 5.31 (25 May 2025) with 4GB addressable RAM (considered stable option)

2. RO 5.31 (06 Jun 2025) with 8GB addressable RAM(considered experimental option)

Shipped with Option 2 enabled (ie 8GB RAM) and includes simple instructions to swap to Option 1 (4GB) if desired.

The system appears to work identically with either ROM option, except perhaps when RAM usage pushes up beyond the 4GB mark and utilises the top 4GB of the addressable 8GB on the Pi. It is considered experimental as in general usage it is rare to need such high levels of RAM use with RISC OS and so has not been thoroughly tested.

You get both ROMs supplied with this machine so can try them both.

RISC OS 5.31H Direct V3 - RISC OS Developments 's custom software distribution with highlights including:

the IRIS Web Browser, ROD Netmanager and ROD's current Networking & WiFi Stack (7.09).

A very capable RISC OS 5 based system and by bundling RISC OS Developments version of

RISC OS Direct V3 you also get the IRIS Web Browser included (updated to v1.037 - 21 Jul 2025)

IRIS was previously otherwise a 50UKP additional cost (1st Public Release made October 2025 !)

[ROD have given us the OK to distribute this so long as we don't make major modifications to RO Direct - so apart from some folder re-organisation and a few additional applications installed and a few updates it is vanilla RO Direct V3]

The 2nd main change from the vanilla RO Direct image (ie exlcuding the enabling of 8GB of addressable RAM is that it is set up for an 8GB installation image. So on a 64GB SD card the rest of the space is wasted. We have expanded the installation to use the full extent of the 64GB SD Card (approx 60GB usable).

This is a Raspberry Pi 4b 8GB in a passively cooled Armor Heatsink case, but has had the addition of 2 x inbuilt 25mm cooling fans which run very quietly (constant on)

This is a small case and makes the system highly portable. The GPIO pins remain accessible and there are slots for routing camera connectors as well. The base is also aluminum.

The design of the case does not interfere with the Wifi Signal of the Pi4b.

This is one of a limited number of custom/unique RISC OS systems that I am proposing to offer for sale.

All these systems come from my own personal collection (but I really don't need so many PI, so reducing the quantum).

It comes with the an official Raspberry Pi Black USB C 5.1W 15.3W Power Supply.

A USB-C in line power switch cable is included - allowing a convenient power on/off solution to the Pi4

It comes with a a micro to standard size HDMI cable adapter to allow ease of use with most HDMI monitors.

The operating system , applications and files are loaded on a 64GB Samsung Evo Micro SD card.

The CPU has had a slight overclock to 1800Mhz (default is 1500Mhz).

The RISC OS screen grabs may show the CPU running at 600Mhz but that is just because the machine is idling, when working doing something it jumps up to the full 1.8GHz speeds

With the help of RISC OS Developments and their new networking stack 7-09 this machine has reliable and fully working WiFi (has been tested on 2.4GHz and 5GHz set ups as well as Android phone hotspots) as well as cabled networking.

All 4 USB ports are available for use (run at USB 2.0 speeds).

This RISC OS install was created with the help of Jon Abbot's partition manager which enabled utilisation of the full space of the SD Card.

A VNC Server has been set to run on startup to allow remote logging into the machine (on the local network).

The Video has been set to work with standard EDID monitors utilising a ROD RODirect monitor definition file and a special monitor definition file is included if you want to run the machine headless.

A keymapper application is loaded eg for modern keyboards that may not have a <BREAK> key (re-run the included ROD 1stDirect utility application to set up keymapping etc)

There is an extensive selection of software and modules loaded on this machine as part of the RISC OS Developments RISC OS Direct V3 (5.31) distribution - see included screen grab of applications and folders.

It is geared towards new and seasoned RISC OS users.

All of these have been tested and working

(with a couple of applications removed from the distribution as failed to work)

Some applications need to make use of Aemulor or older programs and games (eg Impression Style)

Ready to use out of the box but there is also a wealth of additional software available with lots of it via the 2 included application managers, PackMan and PlingStore.

- CPUClock 2.09 - shows CPU speed and temperature on the desktop and/or the iconbar

- Keymapper 0.05 - Map keyboard keys

- LanMan98 setup - PDF file detailing setup of networking with Windows 10 systems by Bernard Vaesaey @ Bapfish

- MixVolume 0.03 - volume control for the desktop

- Moredesk - was missing required !Routines file, re-installed using PlingStore application manager

- PackMan 0.9.7 - application manager (upgraded from 0.9.1 shipped with RO Direct which was not working)

- ScrHelp 1.74 - shows system details including specifications on the RPi SBC

- StickyPAD 1.09 - post it notes, with the system summary notes, installed using PlingStore application manager
