This book covers the rise of the Martinsyde company from its pre-war WWI beginnings to its eventual demise in the post-Armistice years of the British aviation industry. Even then, its products continued in service given a new life by the Aircraft Disposal Company with sales abroad to the aviation services of the new states of Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Soviet Russia, as well as older states of Spain and Portugal. Martinsyde aircraft were in service throughout all the years of WWI earning fame in Palestine after a disastrous history on the Western Front. Martinsyde produced the fighter with the highest performance built anywhere during WWI in 1917, but it never saw service in the war. In its 265 pages it has 261 photographs; 33 in colour including two original WWI colour photographs; three scale drawings of the main types, contemporary drawings and sketches, and 30 color profiles. This book gives an detailed history of the company and its products.
