French Silver-maker Christofle is an enduring symbol of luxury,
elegance and prestige in the art of silver.
This item belongs to the sought-after Christofle “Lumiere
D’argent” silverplate collection. The collection comprises of many
collectible animals, each displaying an intricate silversmith work of laced or
pierced silverplate and eyes made of black onyx beads. Manufactured in France,
“Lustrous Silver Collection” pieces are coated with protective varnish that
helps to slow down the oxidization process, so your silver pieces remains shiny
for a longer period of time. Here’s a text from the note that Christofle
usually includes with these pieces:
“This piece from the Christofle workshops in Paris is manufactured
according to the traditional techniques of French silversmiths. A varnish
protects it against tarnishing and eliminates the need for polishing.”
