This panel is possibly 16th to 17th century, as the use of the tulip motifs indicates.The intricate gold motifs meticulously embroidered on a maroon velvet background with silk backing showcase the exquisite artistry of a bygone era. The piece is approximately 46 inches long by 12 inches wide. Usually these gold motifs were made with fine gold wire. There are some damages, the velvet is worn, some of the motifs have lifted, and the silk backing has worn in places. Possibly this was a small pelmet originally, but could be reused,maybe made into cushions. Despite the damages  it is a rare survival, and just needs the right person to see the potential. Believed to be from the United Kingdom, this piece is a testament to the timeless skill and dedication of the period's embroiderers.
