JOHN FERRES, GOVERNMENT PRINTER, MELBOURNE

1858

Available here is John Pascoe Fawkner's signed copy of the Legislative Assembly's Standing Rules and Orders, dated 1858. Here is an opportunity to obtain a unique item of Fawkner's personal property, an object naturally of great importance in relation to the history of Melbourne and Victoria.

John Pascoe Fawkner was a major figure in the early history of Melbourne, Australia.

Fawkner was one of the founders of Melbourne (along with John Batman), was the first person to settle there, and then played a significant role in its development during the early to mid 19th century.

In terms of his political career, Fawkner served in the Victorian Legislative Assembly. He was a member of the first elected Legislative Assembly of Victoria, which was established in 1856. He represented the electorate of Melbourne West in the Assembly between 1856 and 1859.

For buyers outside of Australia:

Multiple purchases can be combined to save on shipping costs.
  1. Purchase, but do not pay for, the items you are interested in.
  2. Use the "Request total from seller" function at checkout. I will update the invoice with the actual shipping amount for the combined order.
(I’m afraid this is the only way to manage multiple book purchases, as the size and weight and shipping destinations vary so much there isn’t a shipping cost template available on eBay to cover all the variables.)

If you prefer, you can send me a message stating which items you are interested in purchasing (please include ebay item numbers) and the country you are in, and I will advise the actual postage cost for the lot.
