The past 30 years of Korean popular music (K-POP) are divided into 10-year cycles, and a total of three volumes, 300 piano pieces, are composed. The first part (PART 1) is a selection of 100 famous Korean popular music songs from 1985 to 1995. The Retro Series PART 2, which will be published later, will cover 1995-2005, and PART 3, which will cover 2005-2015, will each consist of 100 songs, for a total of 3 volumes (300 songs). The 100 Greatest Korean Pop Albums (1998, 2007, 2018) and the rankings of broadcast media such as radio and TV at the time, as well as major award-winning songs from university and riverside music festivals, were selected, and songs that were being reproduced through advice from various musicians and O.S.T., as well as hidden masterpieces that were not noticed at the time were included.
I tried to convey the feeling of the original song as well as possible through piano scores, and in that process, I arranged jazzy harmonies, new age lines, and made it a little easier than the atmosphere of the original song or changed the rhythm. I sincerely hope that through this book, those who lived through that era will be able to recall warm old memories in music, and those who lived after that era will be able to feel the beautiful sensibility that was the driving force behind K-POP.
