This is a very rare antique clock by Hugh Pannell. He died in 1788, so it was made years before that. So far only five of these clocks have been located that have the "watchmaker" on the signature disk on the face of the clock. They usually just say clockmaker. It is in very good condition. It has been in my family for several hundred years. I always was in the hallway when I was growing up. (I am 80 years old). My father would wind it every Sunday. It would always strike on the hour. I assume that it will still run. When I moved to this house 40 years ago we put it on the carpet and could never get it balanced right. I feel sure with a good cleaning and on a flat surface it would run.
