When he was first introduced in 1964, GI Joe took the toy world by storm. With 21 movable parts and loads of detailed accessories, "America's Movable Fighting Man" quickly became a sensation and a new way to play for boys across the nation and around the world.
To commemorate the 40th Anniversary of America's greatest toy soldier, GI Joe, Hasbro began releasing large box sets that included a boxed 12 inch action figure from one of the four Armed Services (Action Soldier, Action Marine, Action Pilot and Action Sailor) and related uniform and accessory sets. The 40th packaging was almost identical to the original items.
Original plans called for 30 different sets to be released, however, the line was cancelled before completion and not all the sets were manufactured and / or released.
This auction is for the "10th in a Series", Combat Set. It comes with a black haired painted head 12" Action Soldier with hard hands (aka nosepickers). The figure is dressed in a olive drab fatigue uniform with a plastic olive drab fatigue cap, and comes in a reproduction coffin box (marked 40th Anniversary). It includes a metal dog tag, Army field manual and insignia sheet. The carded Combat set includes the olive drab field pack, mess kit, canteen, belt, entrenching tool and Army Field Manual.
This set has never been opened and it's contents haven't been handled, or played with, in any way. The contents are 100% mint. The box has little to no shelf wear and displays beautifully. Please review pics and ask any questions, as there are no returns on opened items :-(
