MSA was formed after Malayan Airways and was a joint venture between Malaysia and Singapore.

The airline existed for a short period before splitting into Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines in 1972.

The Boeing 707 was the world's first successful commercial jet.

MSA operated 10 Boeing 707s.

Following the split of MSA, the Boeing 707s were retained by Singapore Airlines until Malaysia Airlines received their own in 1974.
