Location:  Walcott-Rust Quarry, Trenton Falls, New York

This is an extremely rare and desirable trilobite specimen. It is a large, VENTRAL Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the Walcott-Rust Quarry of New York State. This incredible specimen was found November 9, 2007 - I should know, I found it!! We spent a weekend digging there and found some amazing things. I kept this one in my collection for over 17 years and am now parting with it. The prone ventral trilobite is wonderfully articulated and extremely detailed. The distinct bug has been prepared so that the head is hollowed out, leaving the hypostoma (mouthplate) free-standing! The impressive trilobite is beautifully showcased on the substantial plate of Walcott-Rust limestone, which also displays a small, complete dorsal Ceraurus! This is a special trilobite fossil from this classic US trilobite locality with the discovery date known.
