The Buffalo Bisons of the American Association ended the 1989 season with a record of 80 wins and 62 losses, finishing second in the league's East Division.

The Bisons tallied 599 runs and surrendered 574 runs. Jay Bell paced Buffalo with 10 home runs and recorded 54 runs batted in. Morris Madden and Bob Patterson topped the squad with 12 wins each, while Dorn Taylor recorded a 2.59 ERA, leading regularly-used pitchers.
