The Ink is retracted whilst the pen is in its smallest size once the pen stretches out it becomes a full size pen the nib then protruds and with its smooth writing from the zebra ink  0.7 nib it's a great pen.

Once you have finished writing this fantastic pen shrinks back in size making it easy to carry in pockets or a handbags retracting the ink nib so no ink can cause dammage once the pen is closed to its smallest dimensions.
