The text in this picture reads:-

"You'’ll see green electric trains like this one all over the Southern Region - the world’s largest electrifed railway system. Thousands of people travel daily to and from London and their homes in the suburbs and at the seaside in electric trains, which not only keep up high speeds over distances but stop and start much more quickly than steam trains."

This smart picture is from the remains of a childrens book from the early 1960's.
