This is a charming VASE in a most colorful modern art deco style by Lorna Bailey, produced by Old Ellgreave Pottery, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1995-1999. It is signed and in excellent condition.
A Bit About the Potter. Lorna Bailey studied ceramics at Stoke-on-Trent College and started as a painter and then designer for LJB Ceramics. Her designs were influenced by the art deco pottery of Clarice Cliff. In 1995, when she was 17, her "House and Path" and "Sunburst" patterns were put into full production by Old Ellgreave Pottery. In 2005, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Staffordshire for her service to the field of pottery design field. In 2007, she was elected as Fellow of the prestigious Royal Society of Arts (FRSB). She resigned from the pottery industry in 2008. In 2021 she re-entered the pottery industry anew as Lorena Bailey Ceramics.
