Please examine photos. They are THIS item and are part of the description. I do not use stock photos or photos of other people’s items.

This is a piece of ephemera/memorabilia from the Miami Beach estate of Joy van Wye Alschuler Malakoff (1936-2023). After a career in banking she served as a Miami Beach City Commissioner from 2013-2017 and again in 2019.

THIS is a certificate issued to Joy's father L.C. Van Wye by American Airlines President C R Smith in 1940 making him an honorary "Admiral" in the "Flagship Fleet". The title, created by Smith, was akin to a "Kentucky Colonel". There are some edge tatters and tears, please see photos. Flying Tiger Antiques has a similar certificate on offer for $145, see last photo, not included.

Significant flaws not depicted in the photos are described here-with, minor flaws and normal wear are not. Unless the item is described as new, assume there will be minor flaws or wear commensurate with a used item of given age.
