RARE Soviet Buran Space Shuttle 17D11 Propulsion System Metal Tag Artifact COA

Item Description

Up for sale is an incredibly rare, authentic piece of Soviet space race history: a metal identification tag from the Buran Space Shuttle Orbital Propulsion System (17D11).

The Buran program was the Soviet Union's answer to the NASA Space Shuttle, and artifacts from this short-lived, highly advanced aerospace initiative are exceptionally difficult to find. This particular triangular metal tag is deeply tied to the spacecraft's specialized propulsion engineering.

Historical Significance & Technical Information

The System: The tag originates from the 17D11 orbital propulsion system, which utilized a highly modified version of the Kosberg RD-58 LOX/Kerosene rocket engine.

The Fuel: This system was revolutionary for its time, uniquely designed to burn Sintin (a synthetic kerosene formulation) instead of standard RP-1 to achieve a significantly higher specific impulse and performance.

Current Status: These advanced engines and systems are completely out of production, making physical components and hardware identifiers highly sought-after relics of Cold War-era engineering.
