This is a fine World War II U.S. Navy submarine combat patrol badge with 3 combat stars in excellent condition. This badge is nicely struck and exhibits very nice detail to the obverse side. There are 3 small gold combat stars affixed to the ribbon below the sub, each representing a single combat patrol into enemy waters. The badge is marked with the N.S. Meyer, NY shield logo below the conning tower on the reverse side. It is marked ‘STERLING’ to the left of the logo. The badge is complete with the original pin and roller locking catch assembly. The silver has a very attractive age patina to both the obverse and reverse sides. This remains a very fine example as awarded to officers and enlisted men of the elite and highly perilous Silent Service during the Second World War.
