Newton Hydrobond 401 SA – Self-Adhesive Type A Waterproofing Membrane - 20m2

Newton Hydrobond 401 SA is a high-performance, self-adhesive waterproofing membrane designed for the external waterproofing of below-ground structures such as basements, water holding tanks, culverts and earth-retained walls. As a Type A (barrier) membrane, it provides a durable sheet waterproofing solution when post-applied to concrete, blockwork or Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) walls.

Supplied with a specially formulated bitumen primer (as a purchase option) to improve surface adhesion.

Formed from a composite of cross-oriented high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and a bitumen polymer adhesive, Hydrobond 401 SA is flexible, tough and impact-resistant, offering excellent crack-bridging capability, strong peel adhesion and resistance to ground water chemicals. It bonds reliably even at temperatures as low as 5 °C, making it suitable for UK climates and extended site conditions.

The system can be used in conjunction with Newton Hydrobond pre-applied membranes (such as Hydrobond 402 or Hydrobond 403).

FAQ's

What is HydroBond SA waterproofing membrane used for?

HydroBond SA is a self-adhesive membrane for post-applied waterproofing of below-ground structures, such as basements and water-retaining concrete walls.

How does HydroBond SA bond to substrate?

It uses a bitumen polymer adhesive that creates a high peel strength bond to concrete, blockwork or ICF walls when correctly prepared.

Can HydroBond SA be installed in cold conditions?

Yes — it achieves high-strength bonding at temperatures as low as 5 °C, helping in varied UK site conditions.

Is this membrane flexible?

Yes — the membrane is flexible, durable and exhibits excellent crack-bridging performance and resistance to impact or settlement.

What structures is HydroBond SA suitable for?

It is suitable for basements, water holding tanks, culverts, and any post-applied below-ground waterproofing where a barrier membrane is needed.
