The Sacred Chamber of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is one of the most sacred and respected places in the Islamic world. It is located inside the Noble Prophet’s Chamber in Al Masjid An Nabawi in Medina.
The resting place is believed to be in the same location where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, in the house of Mrs. Aisha (may God be pleased with her).
The chamber consists of a space surrounded by walls and is surmounted by the famous Green Dome, which is considered a distinctive symbol of the Prophet’s Mosque. The chamber is covered by a stone wall that does not allow visibility inside, and it is surrounded by a decorative metal fence known as the sacred screen.
Entry into the chamber is not permitted in order to preserve its sanctity. Visitors stand in front of the window to send greetings to the Prophet and his two companions.
The decorative metal screen is made of copper and plated with gold. It is inspired by the historic fence associated with the Sacred Chamber. The piece is delicately engraved, embossed, and hollowed out with high-quality craftsmanship.
