Excellent near mint condition all round. 1975 classic, all original including the bracelet with a very distinctive style, two tone bronze dial with a stunning effect. All functions work perfectly.  

The 5606 movement was Seiko's flagship movement from 1978 to the late 70s. It was very sophisticated and refined. Variations were used in the top-of-the-line Grand Seiko, the King Seiko and their chronometers. It was the thinnest automatic movement available when it was introduced. It features auxiliary hand winding and hacking. The quick date/day change works (this is a common fault in this model) This watch has been professionally overhauled/serviced, and I confidently guarantee it for 90 days.

The dial is in mint condition with a two-tone effect, iridescent bronze. Superbly polished are the index markers, "Seiko" logo, "LM", date window and hands. The hands are also in mint. All the dial trim is in gold as are the hands.

The case is in great condition with only light patina. It has been lightly re-polished.

Originally the glass was faceted, it was severely scratched and had to be replaced. But the original was discontinued many decades ago and no longer available so, I replaced it with a flat hardlex. In my opinion it presents better.

The bracelet is original a little loose through wear but otherwise in great condition. It will fit up to 20.5 cm wrist. The clasp has a spring, telescopic section for elasticity and comfort. 

This watch ticks all the boxes: Over half a century old, distinctive, near mint and all original. It is a must for the serious collector.

Overhaul/Service Explained 

I am often asked about what an overhaul entails. So, I have started adding a photo of the movement, disassembled ready to go through the cleaning machine. All old dried-up lubricants, crud and anything else that shouldn't be there is cleaned away. Then, the movement is reassembled, lubricated, adjustments made and regulated. Routinely, the back and the crown seals are replaced (where possible) as are the spring lugs. The case is lightly re-finished if necessary. Also, the glass is re-polished if required and possible.

This classic has been overhauled/serviced and is guaranteed for 90 days from the day of purchase.

An Important Note to the successful buyer.

Never use the quick day/date change function when the time show between 2 hours before and 2 hours after midnight. This could damage the quick day/date mechanism.

About vintage mechanical watches:

A vintage mechanical watch will not perform like a modern quartz (electronic) watch. Also, with age comes fragility and it may no longer be ideal as a daily wearer. It should be treated for what it is, something old, classical and special. Treat it as you would a vintage car - not ideal to use as a “daily driver”. Keep it in the condition at which you bought it and it will hold or, indeed, increase its value. Use it every day and it will go backwards.
