Look for the Australian and New Zealand RCM symbol+ on any LED Power Supply you purchase! Many "cheap" power supplies are NOT electrical safety approved for use in Australia... watch out for these dangerous "fakes" as your life could depend on it! Always check the EESS (Electrical Equipment Safety System) website for certified devices (see picture).
The HLG-600H power supply can be used for general application in caravans or other suitable environments where a "robust" and water-resistant power supply is needed. One of our customers is using many of the HLG-600H-48AB mounted in an outdoor enclosure driving a farm fountain that aerates a dam. These have also been used for industrial applications in robotics and automated factory systems. e.g. low voltage conveyors.
The Meanwell HLG-600H comes with 2m lead and Australian 240VAC plug (Type I... other plug types available) and has a fanless, dust and splash-proof design (IP65) with active PFC (Power Factor Correction)+, constant current limiting* on overload and short circuit with automatic recovery. It also has over temperature and over voltage protection and a 7 year Australian warranty is provided. The HLG-600H with AB option provides variable Voltage and Current. The AB option is IP65 rated, other options are IP67, making the HLG-600H ideal for use in Caravans, Trailers, Boats etc.
*constant current limiting is ideal for motor startup and other applications with high current, exceeding the maximum, at switch on. Also for battery charging (with protective devices fitted). With LED lighting it can be operated in constant current mode with the current pot adjustment or DIM+ DIM- input (resistive, 10V PWM, 0-10V) controlling the brightness down to zero!
Many voltages are available...
HLG-600H-12n = 12V@40A, AB type = 10V...13V, 20A...40A
HLG-600H-15n = 15V@36A, AB type = 12V...16V, 18A...36A. e.g. set to 13.8V or 14.4V for 12V battery charge controller.
HLG-600H-20n = 20V@28A, AB type = 17V...21V, 14A...28A
HLG-600H-24n = 24V@25A, AB type = 20V...25.5V, 12A...25A
HLG-600H-30n = 30V@20A, AB type = 25V...32V, 10A...20A. e.g. set to 27.6V or 28.8V for 24V battery charge controller.
HLG-600H-36n = 36V@17A, AB type = 30V...38V, 8A...17A
HLG-600H-42n = 42V@14.3A, AB type = 35V...45V. 7A...14.5A e.g. set to 41.4V or 43.2V for 36V battery charge controller.
HLG-600H-48n = 48V@12.5A, AB type = 40V...51V, 6A...13A
HLG-600H-54n = 54V@11.2A. AB type = 46V...57V, 5A...11.5A. e.g. set to 55.2V for 48V battery charge controller.
Where "n" is (blank) = fixed output, A = variable V+I, B = remotely dimmable, AB = variable current plus dimmable. These power supplies operate from 100VAC to 277VAC input. Weigh 3.9kg, Size 280x144x49mm.
All Meanwell products have a 2 to 7 year warranty. MEAN WELL Enterprises Co., is a Taiwan based company started in 1982 with strong ties worldwide (some well-known companies re-badge their products) and they provide excellent support and backup. Meanwell is a TQM (Total Quality Management) company and is ISO9001 certified. In 2017, the 2-year return rate was 1 in 6600. Meanwell power supplies are extremely reliable in our experience with only one unit DOA (Dead On Arrival) that was replaced and three returned during the warranty period in the 15+ years we have been selling... one power supply had been installed in a control box outdoors (for advertising) and had been attacked by a nest of ants! The Meanwell HLG series is ideal for these types of outdoor applications as they are fully sealed units with IP65 and IP67 ratings. For a company video - click here.
Some "on-the-web" comments... 1. "I have hundreds of 600 Watt 24V Meanwells running in the field and probably another 100+ 350Watt 5V running in the field and they are the most reliable piece of equipment compared to everything else. I've -never- replaced one in over 11 years, but I have replaced a lot of cruddy circuit boards designed or assembled by the less technically inclined (companies).", 2. "But in the end I've learnt a lesson here and that is spend the extra cash and buy some quality power supplies like the meanwell brand or else you could be in for a very frustrating time but I don't have the budget for that this year so I'll have to deal with what I have (sad face)", 3. "All in all, meanwell (LED) drivers are the cream of the crop!!". 4. Need a decent power supply... I can recommend mean well supplies. They are low end industrial supplies but are good quality, much better than no-name chinese supplies you can get from ebay etc.. I use mean well in lots of equipment and have had very few failures in thousands of hours of run time.

*a re-written user manual is provided because we care that all products that we sell have clear and easily readable information and instructions with adequate warnings about any dangers or precautions that need to be taken! Beware of "fakes" and "look-a-likes" (with logos of "M&W", "MiWi", "WH", "WeHo", "WaW" for example) these are often cheap, low quality products that do not meet the safety requirements for use in Australia. Also beware of purchasing this product from overseas as an Australian Warranty will not be provided. +The RCM (Regulatory Compliance Mark) symbol is your guarantee that the item has been tested and certified for use in Australia at 240VAC. Remember many people have been electrocuted by "cheap" units, especially those made by Chinese companies (Meanwell is from Taiwan). Keep in mind the face masks that did not meet international standards and had fake markings on them! Many of the cheap power supplies sold in discount shops have been removed by the Australian government after one person was electrocuted... some of these are now sold online! +NOTE, all LED power supplies in Australia should have POWER FACTOR CORRECTION (PFC). You can generally tell if a power supply does NOT have "active" PFC because it's input current will be DOUBLE that expected (e.g. input voltage x input current ≈ 2 x output wattage). The advantage of "active" PFC is that not only is the AC mains current reduced (and of course "in phase" with voltage... something that power companies prefer), but the electrical interference (EMI) is reduced (less harmonics) BUT also it stablises the input allowing the AC voltage to vary greatly WITHOUT affecting the output voltage!
