1813/1814 German Napoleonic War Medal

Prussian Campaign Medal - In bronze, impressed on the rim "AUS EROBERTEM GESCHUETZ",

Good condition with signs of wear and age. Patina. Lettering on the rim is in great condition. The side without numbers has some pitting and discoloration near the center.

This is a War Service Medal for Prussian veterans who fought against Napoleon during the years 1813 to 1814. The medals were created from captured, melted-down French cannons. Information confirming the fact was etched around its edges. The obverse displayed König Friedrich Wilhelm III’s royal cypher. He led Prussia through this very difficult time. [Under his auspices, the Iron Cross was created in two classes and awarded to enlisted men, NCOs, and officers]. The medal’s reverse displays the years “1813” and “1814.” These are becoming harder and harder to locate. No ribbon comes with this example.
