The story ended with a shocking scene in which Al was separated from "this side of the door" and "the other side (=the real world for us)." This movie version takes place two years after that. Opinions are divided as to whether the harsh and serious setting of Germany in 1923, where the Nazis are gaining power, had a positive effect on this unconventional story about alchemy. That said, it's simply fun to see the "after" of such fascinating characters as Ed and Al, as well as Winry, Roy Mustang, and their former subordinates. The fact that those who perished inside appear as "separate characters" is also interesting as it is a parallel world story. As for the visuals, there are plenty of impressive scenes, so if you're a fan of the TV series, it's definitely worth watching.
