Rare Original Victorian 1st Btn Somersetshire Rifle Volunteers white metal Belt Buckle - pre 1881

The female part of the buckle shows significant wear on the left hand side where the male side had rubbed against it during its life, resulting in the word Bttn being largely rubbed away. There is an old solder repair on the back designed to keep both parts together - this repair no longer effective.

The victorian crown has also been heavily polished / worn

Despite the defects this remains a rare buckle.

Exhibits nice, appropriate patina and very good original definition (ie where not worn)
