Grow your own sugar cane! A taste of the south and a piece of history. We grow and collect over 25 varieties of heirloom sugar cane. We offer fresh cut pieces that are perfect for growing. Sugar cane prefers a hot and humid growing climate with plenty of moisture and soil fertility. It is successfully grown across many of the southern states and west into California. It can also grow in greenhouses or large pots and harvested before a winter freeze. The best time to plant in USDA zones 8-11 is from October- March and that is usually our main season for Cane offerings.

'KavaRangi' its a type of ribbon cane. This is an old heirloom chewing cane From Hawaii. It is a red cane with green ribbon variegated stripe. The leaves sometimes show cream color variegated stripes throughout the leaves. It is a softer cane that is easy to peel and chew. Very Sweet.

Our heirloom sugar cane is organically grown,  and we send fresh cut pieces 6-8" long of ready for planting. 

 

*Planting Instructions*

Bury the cutting about 3" below your soil if directly planting in the ground (zone 8 or warmer). Mulch and let the cutting root in. the cane will sprout and come up in the spring as it warms with a established root system.For starting the cane cutting in a pot:  Bury the cutting about 2" below the soil laying on its side horizontally. Keep warm and slightly moist.

The nodes will root out and the cane will sprout.
