What Makes a Fine Japanese Prayer Beads Different

Unlike inexpensive mass-produced souvenir beads, Kyo Nenju (Kyoto Juzu) are traditional Japanese crafts, valued for their exceptional craftsmanship, durability, and spiritual significance.

All Juzu offered in our store are handcrafted by skilled artisans in Kyoto and come with an official certification tag from the Kyoto Rosary Manufacturing Wholesale Cooperative.

1. Skilled Craftsmanship
Even the inside of each bead hole is carefully polished to reduce friction and protect the cord from wear. Pure-silk tassels are soft and supple, resist deformation, and retain their beautiful shape over time.

2. Dignity for a Mature Adult
As we grow older, quality matters more than simply owning something. A finely crafted Juzu can be carried with confidence and dignity at important Buddhist ceremonies and formal occasions.

3. Uncompromising Selection of Natural Materials
Only the finest natural materials are selected for harmony in color, luster, clarity, and pattern. Each has its own unique characterβ€”no two pieces are exactly alike.

Men’s Free Size
The men's size is approximately 36 cm (14.1 inches) and is designed as a free size.

About Shingon Sect (Esoteric Buddhism)

Shingon Buddhism is one of Japan's major Esoteric Buddhist traditions, founded by the revered master Kobo Daishi (Kukai). Centering on Dainichi Nyorai (Mahavairocana), it teaches the path of "Sokushin Jobutsu"β€”attaining enlightenment in this very existenceβ€”through sacred rituals, mantras, and meditation. The Shingon rosary is crafted in a double-strand style with a harmonious balance of 108 main beads. A defining feature of this rosary is its elegant, symmetrical structure, featuring four tassels evenly divided between two parent beads.
