The film reel is in great shape.
Estimated 21 minutes long covering 1903 to the late 70's.
This film takes you from 1903 when Henry Ford drove his first automobile, then in 1908 when the Model T came out, to silent movies with Laurel and Hardy making the Model T an international star, to baseball with Babe Ruth, and Lindburg landing the Spirit of St Louis in Paris. By then the Model A had made its appearance. Gene Harlow was the leading sex symbol, Clark Gable and Betty Davis drove a long line of Ford Cars on the Hollywood screen, Joe Lewis (boxer) struck a pre-war blow by knocking out his German opponent, Max Schmeling in one round. The decade ended with a party at the World's Fair in NY. The Ford Mercury was introduced along with the first Ford Tractor. In 1939, the Lincoln Continental appeared and also brought Hitler on the loose. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941 and after Germany and Italy declared war on the U.S. on Dec 11, 1941, President Roosevelt supervised the mobilization of the American economy to support the war effort and by 1942 Ford suspended all car production and committed all resources to the war effort producing B24 Bombers and other military vehicles. Betty Grable was the Farrah Faucet of the time and was the pin up girl for American GI's to all parts of the world. After the war, in its traditionally bold Ford style, the company regained its position as the leader in the production of forward-looking low-priced cars with the revolutionary design of the 1949 Ford. Maryland Monroe made her first appearance in living color on a calendar and Playboy gave us a closer look at the girl next door. Bobby Thompson with the incredible 9th inning home run won the 1951 pendant for the Giants. Ike was president and Elvis became an instant rage with his Heartbreak Hotel. In 1956 Russia and Afghanistan signed a non-aggression treaty. Television became of age and the Ford Continental Mark II was introduced. Teen-aged boys working on their Hot Rods in suburban back yards were having a growing influence on the automobile aftermarket. In 1961, John F. Kennedy was elected president. Everything was looking up and up we went as Ford helped launch America into Space with Alan Shepard, the first American astronaut. In 1962, Ford Motor Company was the first automobile manufacturer to extend recommended oil change intervals on its new model passenger cars to 6 months or 6,000 miles. In 1965, the Lotus-Ford Racer won the Indy 500. The Beetles had come to America. Hot pants revealed as much thigh on the street as the law would allow. The Ford Mustang had become the hot new car on the road. It was in 1965 that Ford entered the retail motor oil market for the first time. The sexual revolution was in full swing and so was disco with Donna Summers making her debut. The Vietnam war was pressing on through two decades and in 1977 Jimmy Carter became president. This ultimately is a Training and Advertising Film for Ford Motorcraft Oil, Filters, Batteries, etc.... The motto .... Save $ and Enjoy It !
