Miles High F5L Cross tail ~ Fuselage Pod / Cross-tail parts set.

This parts set contains parts for the fuselage pod & tail only. Building instructions for the fuselage and tail are provided by email. This is not a full kit, additional materials will be required to complete the fuselage and tail.

What is in the box:

• A total of 83 laser-cut parts
• 2 x fuselage sides cut in 3 mm liteply
• 9 x Fuselage top & bottom cross grain 3mm balsa
• 9 fuselage formers cut in 3 mm liteply
• (34 & 35 mm diameter motor bulkheads provided to give more spinner options)
• (2 versions provide for boom support formers)
• 2-part servo tray cut in 3 mm liteply
• 3 x wing retaining plats cut in 3 mm liteply
• 2 x canopy support bars
• Triangular balsa strip
• 12 x balsa formers to produce conical pod boom interface
• A fuselage jig is provided to ensure everything is bonded square!
• Cross-tail & fin/rudder cut in 4.75 mm balsa
• Fin joiners - 3mm aluminium tube and 2mm carbon rod
• Tailplane platform parts (for producing slots in the boom accurately)
• Tailplane platform drill jig (for producing slots/holes in the boom accurately)
• Tailplane/rudder control horns cut from 1.5 mm premium laser ply
• Building guidelines included via email

What you will need in addition to complete the Fuselage/tail:

• Wing parts are not included in this offer. See our other listings for Miles wing rib set.
• Carbon boom - finished length 770 long.
• Carbon Tube direct from www.freeflightsupplies.co.uk (F1A - 17.5 mm to 10.2 mm x 950 mm - 22 gm - £20.00 plus post)
• Control push rod set - I use 0.74mm 22SWG Stainless Steel Wire (1.5 m)
• Wing retaining nuts & bolts to suit your wing design
• Covering material

The fuselage was designed by Steve Haley and was aimed at the F3-RES /F5L-RES competition pilots. Although designed around the Miles wing, the brief was to design a ‘cost-effective’ universal fuselage pod & tail unit to fit all 2m glider wings. To minimise postage/stock holding costs, you must provide your carbon boom; details can be found below. There is no requirement for a plan to construct this fuselage as we provide full building guidelines via email.

Design criteria:

• Cost-effective universal fuselage pod & tail unit to fit all 2m glider wings
• Complies with F3-RES /F5L-RES competition rules.
• Greatly reduced weight (200g lighter than original Miles Fuselage)
• Designed to take a standard 28mm brushless outrunner motor (200-300w) using 500amp 3s Lipo
• Servo tray designed around micro 18.6 x 7 x 16.7 mm servos

• Longer moment arm to improve pitch stability
• Both Cross tail and V-tail options available
