Peter the Great was a Russian czar in the late 17th century known for his extensive reforms in an attempt to make Russia a great nation. He was the founder of St. Petersburg. He created a strong navy and army based on Western standards. He secularized schools and took greater control over the reactionary Orthodox Church. He reorganized the administrative and territorial divisions of the country. He focused on science and better education. This is a silver kopek in nice condition from his reign.
