Ex-,library book with typical markings and card pouch. Spine lettering faded. Holes punched through cover and extending into text  apparently with an awl-like instrument. No text is affected. Binding split at first title page. Back cover hinge partially split. Binding is intact throughout text. Light notational marks in beginning pages, with a few sparsely scattered marks in text, not interfering with legibility. Usable book. Text is clear and readable. No tears or folds noted. The author's belief was that"the school is the road to culture".
