Takumi Fujiwara lives a seemingly mundane life in the quiet town of Akina, working at his family's tofu shop and delivering tofu every morning. One fateful night, the tranquility of Akina is disrupted by the arrival of the Akagi Red Suns, a notorious street racing team led by the Takahashi brothers, Ryousuke and Keisuke. Determined to dominate the mountain passes of Kanto, the Red Suns challenge the locals to a race.

During a chance encounter on the winding roads of Akina, one of the Red Suns' top drivers is shocked to be overtaken by Takumi in his modest Toyota AE86. The mysterious skill and precision of Takumi behind the wheel catch the attention of the Takahashi brothers, sparking their interest in this seemingly unassuming tofu delivery boy.
