Very rare Senecio Rowleyanus Variegata | Variegated String of Pearls 1 x 12cm Unrooted cutting

One of the most amazing and unusual succulents you could possibly own. Has to be the very rarely available Variegated String of Pearls succulent trailing plant. This is also commonly known as Variegated string of beads and the Latin name is Senecio Rowleyanus Variegata. 

This plant is perfect for accompanying other succulents within a succulent container as it will give a trailing effect over the edge of the plant pot. 

If you decide that the plant stems get too long, simply snip them back to the length that you would like these to be. Although don't throw these away as they are really easy to propagate and give away to friends and family! These cuttings also sell for a decent price for a very small cutting so the plant will soon pay for itself.

We like to chop the sections of stems are small pieces in a 5 cm plant pot then it doesn't hold too much moisture. After layering the cuttings on top of the pot it is a good idea to hold them in place with a paperclip or a bit of garden wire. To give additional drainage we also like to use a layer of fine gravel on top of the cuttings which will also help hold the stems in place until the plants start rooting. We recommend using a good quality succulent and cacti compost. We like to use our own mixture of 60% John innes number two with 40% horticultural sand to give maximum drainage. If there's one thing that succulents hate, it is having their roots sitting in water for prolonged periods.

Please note that this plant would need protection from frost. They are a tender succulent. Also, it's important not to overwater as the plant will store water in the leaves. The leaves will also be a good indication when the plant needs watering as they will start to slightly shrivel. Around once a fortnight is a good time to water. Although the plant will require less water in the winter months.
