It’s about 2 5/8” deep but the insert doesn’t fill to the top. It is about 2” at deepest. I’m not sure if the two pieces are original together but I purchased them together at an estate sale. It weighs about a pound. The rectangular container is dented as seen and imbedded stamped on the bottom wear ever brand. It could use a deep cleaning. See pictures. Sold as seen.
