For sale is one (1) vintage, hand-painted Casafina Alentejo Indigo terracotta stoneware casserole dish. The casserole dish has THREE small chips (all three on the rim, see photos) and could use a careful cleaning. The dish measures 8.25” wide by 14” long and stands about 2” tall. It was made in Portugal by Casafina, in the traditional blue-and-white pattern characteristic of the Portuguese countryside. The “makers mark” info is clearly etched into the terracotta underside of the dish, along with the code A70-BW and some kind of symbol. I have not seen another Indigo casserole dish for sale in online marketplaces; you see plates and platters more often. I have no idea when it was made, but it does appear to have some age. It does not look like a new piece. This is a used, vintage item that shows signs of previous ownership. There is some discoloration in the bowl of the dish and tons of crazing. Even with its small flaws, the dish is still really cool, it’s glossy and vibrant with lots of life left. This item will be packaged with care and will ship from Central Texas.
