Vtg Lufkin Rule Lumber Logging Log Measuring Tool Scribner Scale
Wood 36"
I believe this is
a Scriber Scale rule.
Given that the
Doyle rule underestimates volumes for most logs (those under 28 in. in
diameter), these scale differences should be expected. Scribner was closer to
International ¼-Inch volumes, with a difference of 309 BF. However, the Doyle
log rule was created in 1825 and the Scribner rule in 1846.
The Doyle rule is
the least accurate, the Scribner rule is an intermediate estimator, and the
International 1/4” scale is the most accurate.
This vintage
Lufkin rule is a must-have for collectors and woodworking enthusiasts alike.
Made in the United States, this measuring tool features a Scribner Scale and
can measure up to 36 inches. It has a rich history and adds an authentic touch
to any collection, making it an ideal addition for those interested in vintage
originals.
The rule is
branded with Lufkin and is perfect for carpentry and logging purposes. Its
unique design showcases the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail that
Lufkin is known for. This tool is an ideal item for those interested in
collecting vintage measurement tools or those who need a precise measuring tool
for their woodworking project.
