Doyle, Arthur Conan - The Captain of the Polestar and Other Tales - Longmans, Green, & Co: London, 1890 - First Edition / First Printing - 1890 date on the title page and no mention of later printings as required in order to denote the first printing of the first edition.

The book has sunning, soiling, stains, and significant shelf wear to the edges with rubbing and nudges. The spine has chips/flaws and appears to have had some amateur stabilization in the past. The binding is cracked but was likely strengthened at the same time the spine was. Internally this copy is very clean and free of writing or other markings. While acceptable as is this would be a superb candidate for a fine leather rebinding. A truly scarce title to see in the correct first British edition which preceded the American by four years. Conan Doyle’s second collection of shorts— titles which are often described as the author’s strangest.
