These symptoms include acid regurgitation, heartburn and indigestion which may occur following meals or during pregnancy, and in those who display symptoms of oesophagitis. This oral suspension belongs to a group of medicines called reflux suppressants which form a protective 'raft' on top of the stomach contents to prevent stomach acid from escaping into the oesophagus (food pipe) which causes pain and discomfort. Gaviscon Advance includes an extra strength formula of sodium alginate & potassium bicarbonate, which forms a stronger more resilient raft compared to Gaviscon Original. The active ingredients 250mg Sodium Alginate, 133.5mg Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate & 80mg Calcium Carbonate.

This treatment may be less effective if you have decreased the amounts of gastric acid produced in your stomach. If symptoms persist after 7 days, please consult your doctor.
