This stunning large sized sugar & creamer set is a true antique, originating from the prestigious Haviland & Co and crafted in Limoges, France. Its made from elegant white porcelain, and is ornately accented with gold, creating a timeless and sophisticated look. It has elegant hand-painted gilding and the creamer has a unique split handle style which gives it extra visual interest. On the bottom of the pieces you will see incised marks for H & Co. (Haviland) and also marks for The Wileman China Co. and the Wileman stamp has been dated between 1880-1882, indicating that this is a Victorian era set. The size of the pieces supports this too, as Victorian era sugar bowls were larger due to the fact that sugar chunks were used rather than granulated sugar, so more capacity was required.
Measurements:
Sugar Bowl: 5 1/2” in height and 5 1/4” in diameter (at it’s widest point). Handle to handle measures 7” in length.
Creamer: 4 3/8” in height and 4” in diameter. Spout to handle measures 5 1/4” in length.
The set was estate-owned and is in very good antique condition. You will see some wear to the gilding in places, but it is otherwise in excellent condition. Look closely at the pictures for further condition reference.
