It em for Sale: 1980's Collectible Plate and Bowl by Japanese Artist Shigeko Sato These are two two poeces from an estate by esteemed ceramics artist Shigeko Sato of Japan. Ms. Sato moved to the United States in the 1960's and studied ceramic arts and related arts throughout colleges and universities in the U.S., including a degree from University of California, Berkeley. She has won over 50 awards and prizes, and has taught her art at various colleges. One of her greatest accomplishments was to have a one-woman show of her pottery held in 1986 in Washington, D.C. at the National Arboretum. In addition to that honor, one of her sculptures shown was sold to a Japanese collector for $10,000, to be put on public display in Japan. She had a studio at the famed Old Town Alexandria, VA, Torpedo Factory and Art League, and was one of the first artists to be installed at that studio. This particular Plate and Bowl is magnificent, and practically glows.
