CE Level 1 vs CE Level 2 Armour

CE Level 1 provides certified impact protection while generally being lighter and thinner.

CE Level 2 allows significantly less impact force to pass through the protector and therefore provides a higher level of impact protection under the applicable CE motorcycle armour standard.

Important: Shoulder/elbow armour and back protectors are tested under different CE standards, so I would avoid advertising “Level 1 = 35 kN / Level 2 = 20 kN” for the complete set. Those figures apply to limb protectors, while back protectors have different test limits.
